Having once again started thinking about wargaming I've begun buying new figures and have been looking through my WH40k stuff and looking at the freebie rules and assorted articles online. How disappointing is the current version of this game?
Eg.When did Dreadnought become a single "vehicle", rather than a class of customizable suits? Are there any rules for creating your own vehicle and Dreadnought designs any more?
Anyway. I still have my 1st edition 40k rulebook so I think a little "oldskool" skirmishing is in order. I've only got Drutt to oppose me ATM so if anyone locally feels like a game do get in touch. I'm a "friendly" (read "crap, so doesn't take it too seriously") player so no hardcore white metal-heads please. _________________

Just a thought, but it might be worth posting this on the Thanet Tabletop Roleplayers facebook group as well - assuming you're still looking for someone to play with.
I was never into WH40K but someone in the TTTRP group, Grahame Deverson, was into WH a bit and he had a brother who was very much into it. GD has moved away from the area and I'm not in touch with his bro personally, but it might be worth a shot. You could drop him a message via facebook and he might be able to help you out.
By the way, have you seen this site:
http://www.nearbygamers.com/
Right now there are only two people registered in Thanet - myself and another chap called Steve, and neither of us play WH40K but you might find others further afield, or you may find it useful for other purposes.
Good luck with it anyhow.
Hey, hope the Maritime Museum thing went well, too |
